Historic Three-Year Partnership Places South Africa and the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast on the Global Staysure Legends Golf Tour Calendar
Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal – Zimbali Lakes has secured the hosting rights for the first-ever Staysure Legends Tour event in Africa, bringing one of world golf’s most prestigious senior professional tours to the continent through the inaugural Zimbali Lakes Legends Championship, hosted by Ernie Els.
The inaugural championship will take place from 8–14 February 2027 at the Ernie Els Signature Course at Zimbali Lakes, establishing South Africa as the newest destination on one of world golf’s most prestigious international tournament calendars.
For more than 30 years, the Staysure Legends Tour has showcased the icons of world golf, bringing together the game’s greatest professionals aged 50 and over. Its celebrated ranks include Major Champions, Ryder Cup legends and Hall of Fame players such as Ian Woosnam, José María Olazábal, Colin Montgomerie, Michael Campbell, Paul Lawrie and Miguel Ángel Jiménez, alongside South African stars Darren Fichardt, James Kingston and Keith Horne, competing at some of the world’s most renowned championship venues.
The inaugural Zimbali Lakes Legends Championship marks the Tour’s first official event in Africa, creating a historic milestone for South African golf and the continent.
Further announcements will be made over the coming months, including the unveiling of tournament sponsors, participating Legends Tour players, hospitality experiences, Pro-Am opportunities, and public ticket sales.
